as a leader, you are also expected to share all those gifts that you have received from god.

When we celebrate a big feast, we should prepare it well.

The preparation period before Christmas is called ADVENT

Advent contains four Sundays, in church we can see the Advent wreath with four candles. Every week a candle is lit.

The preparation period before Easter contains six Sundays and is called LENT. Lent starts on ASH WEDNESDAY. The last week of Lent has a special name: HOLY WEEK. In Holy Week there are a couple of days with their own special name. What do we celebrate on those days? Please explain!

Throughout the year we celebrate different feasts. Some are more important than the other. Almost everyday the Church celebrates a feast day or memorial of a Saint of some sort.

We celebrate St. Lidwina of Schiedam, on of our patron saints, on 14th June and St. Gerard Majella on 16th October. On 13th June we celebrate St. Anthony of Padua and on 9th October St. Dionysius. On 6th December we celebrate St. Nicholas of Myra. On 19th March we celebrate St. Josef and on 4th of October St. Francis of Assisi.

All Saints day is on 1th November. All Souls day is on 2nd November and we commorate the souls of all the faithful departed.

On 6th January is the feast of Epiphany. The Mother of God has many feastdays:

Her birth is commemorated on 8th September, the day the Angel Gabriel messaged her that she would become the Mother of God is on 25th March, Mary's Immaculate Conception is 8th December, the Assumption is 15h August and Candlemass is 2nd February. De katholieke kerk kent zeven sacramenten:

1.          Baptism                          _____

2.         Confirmation                         _____

3.         Confession        _____

M    Sometimes people are called by Jesus to conform their whole lives to the Gospel and to continue the work of the Apostles.

C     The Message of the Gospel is spread across the entire world. Directly after birth people can become a part of the Church.

R    Every person makes mistakes. But you can repent! By confessing your sins and receive forgiveness of God.

A    Sometimes people are suffering from illness or they are close to death. Also then the Church provides help in this sacrament.

I     Jesus instituted the Holy Mass at the Last Supper. He gave His own Body and Blood to His disciples. They on their turn gave us the Mass. We receive the Body and Blood of Jesus in this sacrament.

H    Renewing the world like Jesus wanted is not easy. If you choose to join the path, you should confirm your intentions and act according to your promises.

S    Two people who want to spend their lives together can witness of Gods love for us.
